Yasin Dutton is Professor and Head of School of Languages and Literatures at University of Cape Town, South Africa. His research interests span early Islamic law; early Quranic manuscripts; and Islamic law in the modern world. His publications include The Origins of Islamic Law: The Qur’an, the Muwatta’ and Madinan ‘Amal (Richmond: Curzon Press, 1999); Original Islam: Malik and the Madhhab of Madina (London: Routledge, 2007) and (ed.)
